Connie Conway, Former State Assembly Leader & U.S. Representative, Endorses Tenessa Audette for State Assembly

REDDING, CA — Tenessa Audette, Mayor of Redding and candidate for State Assembly District 1, has received a powerful endorsement from one of California’s most seasoned and respected public servants, former State Assembly Leader and U.S. Representative Connie Conway. With a distinguished career spanning local, state, and federal government, Conway’s endorsement solidifies the overwhelming support for Audette’s campaign from those who know what it takes to do the job and represent the people.

“During my years of public service, I committed to standing true to my core values while always being willing to listen to, respect, and serve the diverse constituents I represented—no matter our differences,” said Conway. “Tenessa embodies this same commitment, and I’m confident in her ability to be a dynamic advocate within the California Legislature. She will passionately represent the people and be a strong voice for policies that restore a safe and vibrant California.”

Connie Conway, a lifelong resident of California’s San Joaquin Valley, has served in various roles including businesswoman, healthcare worker, Tulare County Supervisor, and President of the California State Association of Counties (CSAC). She was elected to the California State Assembly in 2008, where she represented District 34 and later District 26, rising to the role of Assembly Republican Leader, the first woman to hold the position in nearly 30 years. More recently, Conway served as the U.S. Representative for California’s 22nd Congressional District and as the Executive Director of the USDA Farm Service Agency in California, administering critical safety net and disaster relief programs for the state’s farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers.

Conway received the Tulare Chamber of Commerce’s Woman of the Year award in 2007 and a 100% pro-jobs rating from the California Chamber of Commerce for her votes to keep taxes low and promote job creation. She was also a founding member of Leadership Tulare and actively involved in her community as a member of Tulare Kiwanis Club and Tulare Rotary, and serving on the boards of the City of Tulare Redevelopment Agency, Tulare City Historical Society, and Tulare Hospital Foundation.

Conway’s endorsement is expected to resonate strongly with voters who are seeking a candidate with the experience, commitment, and integrity to represent their interests in the State Assembly. It also underscores Audette’s alignment with the values of integrity, community service, and dedication to effective governance. With a proven track record as Mayor of Redding, Audette’s campaign is focused on bringing practical, results-oriented leadership to Sacramento, restoring the state’s reputation as a place where families and businesses can thrive.

Conway joins influential leaders and organizations around the North State and California in supporting Audette, including Senator Shannon Grove, Assemblywoman Marie Waldron, former Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, California Women’s Leadership Association, California Rifle and Pistol Association, Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA), Reform California, the El Dorado County Republican Party, the Nevada County Republican Party, and the Placer County Republican Party and Siskiyou County Republican Party.
