Representation Restored under Tenessa Audette's Plan to Prioritize Neglected Rural Communities in CA’s Largest Assembly District

Tenessa Audette, Mayor of Redding and candidate for California State Assembly District 1, today announced a comprehensive plan to address and enhance constituent services by placing field representatives in critical rural communities across the district. By placing six representatives throughout 11 counties instead of the current three representatives in two cities, this initiative is designed to ensure that the needs and concerns of residents in these often-overlooked areas receive the attention they deserve.

AD01’s large landscape, with over 27,000 square miles of territory, needs an intentional plan to serve the people well. “The feedback from my extensive travel throughout the district speaking to locals, farmers, ranchers, electeds, and businesses is that too often our rural counties have been left without the connection and support they need from their elected officials,” said Audette, “That changes with my plan.”

Audette's experience serving the people as a district representative over the last five years provides an advantage to the district in setting up offices and structuring the staff to best serve the people.

Audette’s proposal includes establishing field offices in Yreka, Susanville, Redding, Grass Valley, Quincy and Jackson. These locations have been strategically chosen to cover the broad geographic span of District 1, ensuring that constituents in even the most remote areas have local representation and direct access to their state representative’s office.

“I’m committed to bringing representation closer to the people,” Audette continued. “By placing field representatives in these key locations, we can provide better support, respond more quickly to local issues, and ensure that the voices of rural communities are heard loud and clear in Sacramento.”

The field representatives will be responsible for constituent services directly engaging with local residents, electeds and leaders, staying connected to the issues and providing vital links to state resources and services. Audette is also calling on community members to help identify individuals who are passionate about serving their neighbors and making a difference in their communities to be considered as potential field representatives.

“If you know someone who is dedicated to serving our rural communities, please share this opportunity with them,” Audette urged. “We’re looking for individuals who are in touch with the needs and concerns of their region and are committed to making a positive impact for the people.”

El Dorado County Supervisor George Turnboo had this to say of the announcement, “Given the vast geography of AD1, rural communities often feel forgotten and that they don’t have a representative who is accessible to them. The state mandates and regulates as though our small rural communities can keep up with big cities like Los Angeles. As the state requires more and more the rural counties have less and less to navigate challenges. When natural disasters like wildfires strike, the result is devastating to the economy and the spirit of the people. Tenessa’s new ideas, concrete plans, and the experience to follow through is a refreshing change to what we have known in the 1st District.”
